Has Anyone Seen The Cord For My Camera

I finally took some photos of nicely finished projects and now I can't find the cord for my camera. It'll probably turn up as soon as I finished posting!

Here's what's done:
1. Kathleen's scarf--it's beautiful. It's the Heart scarf from Knitty's breast cancer issue. It's in beautiful pale pink Blue Sky Alpaca bulky yarn and I love it.
2. Rockin' Sock Club--my Dragon Dance socks feel so amazing on my feet. I am in love with them. The pattern flew by and I can't wait to make it again although I am going to play with the size of the heel a little bit.
3. Renee's Wrist Warmers--same old pattern but they are such fun to make. I'll have to mail them to her since I started them before I canned from the old job.

And onto the job front! I had a good interview next week and am sending out more resumes today. Keep your fingers crossed for me. In the meantime, my pal unemployment insurance is my new best friend.

Snow Day

So much has happened in the past few weeks. Still don't have a new job but had a very good interview this morning. Of course it was raining cats and dogs so I left way too early and had to sit in the parking lot and knit until it was time to go in. It was at the Wildlife Conservation Society which is headquartered at the Bronx Zoo and, let me tell you, you have not seen anything until you have seen the American Bison in the fog. They were amazingly beautiful. Big huge brown humps floating in the mist. I was moved.

Today is a better day.

I spent most of yesterday crying. It was probably the best thing that I could do. I spoke to one of my former board members and good friends who--in a lovely big brotherly way--reminded me that I should mourn all the things that I have lost in the past two weeks.

He struck a chord and I wept for the rest of the day. By about 10 p.m. I was dried out and felt oh-so-very-much-better. Today I got up and picked up Mystery Stole (I am planning on being the last one to finish it) and got loads and loads done on it. A little Law & Order on TV, knitting on my lap--this could be okay for a while.

I also got a call from a friend with leads for jobs which was very nice and made me feel even better.

I may be crying again in an hour but I don't think so. I think I'll just go for a pedicure instead.

What Famous Person's House Did I Go To Today?

I went to a famous person's house today.

I can't say who it is (work, blah, blah) but it was initially sort of thrilling. The apartment--as a space--was fabulous. It's one of those magical New York apartments that, when you see them in a movie, you assume some made up. This one was for real.

However, it was just a regular house--actually a home. Which was kind of nice. I was expecting an overdecorated monstrosity but it was clear that people actually lived their. It made me feel warm and fuzzy. I did, however, find it odd that they have a no-shoes-in-the-house rule. I'm always barefoot at home anyway and I don't really like to wear shoes (although I like to buy them) but I would not have expected these folks to have that rule.

The brightest part of the day was the bus/subway ride. It meant over an hour of uninterupted knitting. Except for the few minutes I spent chatting over my little glovelets with the conductor on the subway so that made it all worth while.

I have a big batch of meatballs in the oven for Boy right now and they are making the house smell fabulous!

November..How did it get to be November?

Well well well. I swore I was back and then I totally bailed. It's been a crazy month! Here's the nutshell version.
1. Work was hell! Too much work. Too many demands. All worked out in the end. (It was actually pretty fabulous but it was a pretty treacherous route to fabulous).
2. Everyone's hands are suddenly cold so I am knitting wrist warmers like a mad woman.
3. A bunch of folks coming for Thanksgiving dinner. I'll post the menu tomorrow. I think it's going to be really good.
4. Boy is stressed. We are stressed. I think it will be okay.
5. Prepping the bathroom for painting. It's going to be more work than I thought it would. Thank God for safety goggles.
6. Vacation days all next week--oh the glory!

Oye!

I thought I was back but I wasn't. Now--I swear--I am really back.

Lot's of work--lot's of knitting. Am taking a page from the Yarn Harlot and have planted a sock on my desk. Not much done yet but it is so nice to pick up and stroke when I have writer's block or I get a really annoying email. Started my favorite baby sweater for my cousin's delicious little son. I made him one when he was born and he and his mom love it. It's really a great pattern. A friend photo copied it for me from a magazine about 15 years ago and I have made a ton of them. It's a basic baby raglan cardigan that you can adjust by a few stitches to add cables, patterns, color--whatever you want. I'll post a photo when I have more than the ribbing done.

Spent the weekend at the local Country Fair (which may sound like an oxymoron in Yonkers but it's a lot of fun). I am one of the chairs of the Food Court which means that right now I smell like Sausage and Peppers with a side of fries. Very attractive. Luckily Boy is away right now so I can spend a leisurely hour taking a hot, hot, hot shower and then going to bed.

My girlfriends from high school and I are going to see Paolo Nutini next weekend. He is so hot and I love his album but I can't seem to stop referring to him as "that cute Scottish jailbait". It should be an interesting evening.

Finally Back!

I gave up. I caved. It finally happened.

I went out and bought a new computer. I was supposed to take Granny's old one. It worked fine and I figured I was doing my part for the world by recycling it but then it totally crapped out on me the very next day.

So I caved in and bought a new computer. And I am truly, madly and deeply in love with it. It is tiny! It fits right on top of my desk. It does everything.

Isn't she cute? I put the sunglasses on top of it for context. It fits in my knitting bag.

Had a lovely rainy morning with Pop's sweater. It's from 2006 Holiday Interweave in lovely dark green. I think he's going to like it although I hope to God it fits!
